MISSION STATEMENT
Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) of Northern Virginia is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the well-being of children, improve parent-child relations and prevent child abuse and neglect by:
EDUCATING the community about the scope, nature and consequences of child abuse and neglect and the importance of positive, nurturing parenting;
PROVIDING direct parent education;
ADVOCATING for children in the community, the legislature and the courts.
HISTORY AND AFFILIATIONS
SCAN of Northern Virginia was founded in 1988 and reaches the Northern Virginia communities of Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County and Prince William County.
SCAN's programs include Parent Education, Public Education, and the Alexandria/Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program.
SCAN of Northern Virginia is affiliated with Prevent Child Abuse Virginia, Prevent Child Abuse America, and the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association.
