SCAN’s Public Education Program works to educate the public—from parents and caregivers to community leaders and neighbors—about positive parenting, preventing child abuse and strengthening families in Northern Virginia.
> The Allies in Prevention Coalition
SCAN launched the Allies in Prevention Coalition in 2004 to engage child and family welfare advocates in communicating regional messages to prevent child abuse and promote children's well-being in Northern Virginia. Learn more.

SCAN of Northern Virginia is pleased to offer Stewards of Children training, the nationally recognized child sexual
abuse prevention program. SCAN offers Stewards of Children trainings using curriculum developed by the Darkness to Light Foundation. Learn more.

SCAN produces a monthly radio show, Parenting Today, through a partnership with Clear Channel Communications. These regular segments address a variety of parenting challenges, and air on local radio stations including 98.7 WMZQ and HOT 99.5. Learn more.

Thanks to a grant from AT&T, SCAN offers a brand new way to share tips, resources and more with parents as they face the difficult job of raising children. Learn more.
> The Northern Virginia Child Abuse Prevention Campaign
SCAN develops the region's only comprehensive public education campaign focused on the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Launched every April for National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the campaign materials are used all year long by SCAN as well as other organizations in the Allies in Prevention Coalition to educate parents and energize community members to take an active role in the prevention of abuse and neglect. SCAN hosts a number of special events throughout the year to raise awareness for child abuse and neglect as well as to raise funds for SCAN's programs. SCAN also attends a number of community events in an effort to reach new populations throughout the region. View our calendar.
