DESCRIPTION:Learn the 8 prevention goals for child safety and start making your organization safer.\nA team of researchers and abuse experts reviewed hundreds of model practice recommendations and identified key eight areas of focus. The result was the Desk Guide for Leaders, published by Johns Hopkins University, Moore Center in November 2020. The first goal and the heart of this guidance is to ‘focus on child wellbeing and safety above all else’.\nSCAN will break down the Desk Guide and help participants understand the WHY behind the eight overarching goals. Participants will be prepared to engage their communities, create a shared understanding with colleagues, and gain support for institutional change based on the Desk Guide framework and audits.\nParticipants will:\n• Identify the 8 goals of YSOs for abuse prevention.\n• Understand prevention and response strategies, such as risk assessment.\n• Identify specific organizational vulnerabilities and mitigating policies and practices.\n
