DESCRIPTION:Get the basics from SCAN!\nAdverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs):  understanding long term impact of trauma and key resilience factors. \nRegistration is FREE\n\nAdverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 years). For example:\n\nexperiencing violence, abuse, or neglect\nwitnessing violence in the home or community\nhaving a family member attempt or die by suicide\n\nAlso included are aspects of the child’s environment that can undermine their sense of safety, stability, and bonding such as growing up in a household with:\n\nsubstance misuse\nmental health problems\ninstability due to parental separation or household members being in jail or prison\n\nACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance misuse in adulthood. ACEs can also negatively impact education, relationships and behavior. However, the impact of ACEs can be reduced.\nRaising awareness of ACEs can help:\n\nChange how people think about the causes of ACEs and who could help prevent them.\nShift the focus from individual responsibility to community solutions.\nReduce stigma around seeking mental health and behavioral outcomes of complex trauma.\nProvide support for  safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments where children live, learn, and play.\n\nLet’s help all children reach their full potential and create neighborhoods, communities, and a world in which every child can thrive.\nParticipants will:\n\nUnderstand impact of Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (P/ACE)\nIdentify immediate, short-, and long-term adaptations of childhood abuse\nConnect trauma with physiological and behavioral adaptations\nKnow core community protective factors\nUnderstand actions that build safety when working with people with ACEs\n\nTraining is equivalent to ACE Interface.\n
