May 31, 2018 – Burke & Herbert Bank raised more than $2,600 for SCAN of Northern Virginia’s child abuse prevention programs through its an annual coin drive at branches throughout the month of April—National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Visitors to the bank’s branches contributed more than $1,600 in cash.  Burke & Herbert Bank, one of SCAN’s 2018 Pinwheel Partners, then added to the total with a $1,000 grant.

“Burke & Herbert Bank is proud to support SCAN and its work to prevent child abuse in our community,” said Terry Cole, Burke & Herbert Bank Executive Vice President. “It’s heartwarming to see our customers and team members join together year after year to contribute to such a worthy cause. I’m so pleased to see such strong results continue after six years of partnership.”

“Protecting children in our community is everyone’s responsibility. More than 10,000 children were reported as abused or neglected in Northern Virginia alone just last year. Yet, we know how to make a difference. Supporting parents and protecting children from abuse and trauma are critical to setting up our next generation for success,” said Sonia Quiñónez, SCAN’s Executive Director.  “That’s why SCAN is grateful for the generosity of partners like Burke & Herbert Bank who help us raise awareness across Northern Virginia about the devastating consequences of child abuse and invest in programs that work right here in our own community. “
