Building Trust: Victim-centered child sex trafficking response

*This event is invitation only

With Dr. Jordan Greenbaum

Dr. Jordan Greenbaum worked as a child abuse physician and is internationally recognized as a trainer, practitioner, and researcher on child sex trafficking and exploitation (CST/E). Her work has been published by the CDC, AAP and IPSCAN, among others, and she trains all sectors involved in prevention and response.

A formal protocol on child trafficking and exploitation is often in place, but multidisciplinary work is challenging.  If we fail to collaborate well, the opportunity to help a victim of trafficking can be lost. This 2-part series aims to educate professionals working with children in Fairfax County, and begin the work necessary to create a formal Multidisciplinary Team supporting victims and preventing trafficking.

Session 1: Centering the Victim

A 90-minute interactive workshop for professionals working with children that builds on baseline knowledge of trafficking. Participants will review trauma-informed approaches and the healthcare response to supporting children who experience or are at risk of trafficking.

Session 2: Building a Community Team

Join us as we build a community response and multidisciplinary team (MDT) to prevent trafficking and support victims in Fairfax. Participants will evaluate sample cases, hear from members of Loudoun’s MDT, and begin MOU planning to work toward a collaborative community response.

The event is finished.
